Clayton Kershaw has an interesting way of getting rhythm for his hands and body that is unconventional in today’s “move forward early” mechanical thought process. When Clayton works from his “balance position” down to his “touch position” he gains little to no ground towards home. In simplistic terms, he is just lifting his leg up and down for no reason, right? No, this timing mechanism allows him to feel his own specific timing to break his hands. This brief pause gives him a specific point to break his hands and begin getting his arm into position. After his hands break he works forward very quickly gaining moment that he didn’t have from “drifting” forward at the peak of his leg lift. When Clayton’s front foot lands he is in a very similar power position as almost all other pitchers.
However you feel timing and rhythm in your delivery, stick too it. Their are Numerous ways to accomplish a task!
